CTA approves request from Jetlines to fly to Europe, Mexico, Cuba, D.R., Jamaica, Antigua, St. Lucia

The Canadian Transportation Agency (CTA) has given the green light on several licence applications submitted by Canada Jetlines.

According to a series of Feb. 1 decisions mde by the CTA, the leisure carrier will be allowed to operate scheduled international service to the European community and its member states, as well as Mexico, Cuba, the Dominican Republic, Jamaica, Antigua and Barbuda and Saint Lucia.

The agency said it is satisfied that Canada Jetlines meets all of the applicable conditions of the Canada Transportation Act.

The CTA is also confident that Canada Jetlines will comply with the relevant terms of the applicable agreements with the countries concerned.

The licences are subject to conditions prescribed by the Air Transportation Regulations, the agency said. 

The news comes after Canada Jetlines announced a new international nonstop service out of its hub at Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) to Cancun, Mexico.

The sun route, which will start with two flights per week and gradually increase in frequency, is scheduled to begin in March 2023. Tickets are now on sale.

Canada Jetlines will operate the route with its growing fleet of Airbus A320 aircraft, including its recently announced second aircraft which was delivered and entered service in December 2022.

Cancun joins other new destinations in Canada Jetlines’ growing schedule, including Vancouver, Las Vegas, and Melbourne/Orlando, Florida.
