All aboard the Disney Dream
Since its first voyage in 2010, the Disney Dream has offered something for every traveller.
In addition to celebrities signing autographs and posing for amateur photographers, pool decks filled with excited children and the presence of the Disney universe 24/7, there are plenty of ways for adults to enjoy the experience. High-end restaurants such as Palo offer dining experiences worthy of the finest restaurants, while an on-board spa helps cruisers feel completely refreshed and relaxed.
Of course, the family experience is like no other, with the entire cruise centred around families sharing magical moments together. While the old Disney classics are shown on giant screens near the pools, more recent movies are playing in theatres at different times. D Lounge offers a variety of activities (like karaoke!); an arcade (called Arr-cade) is also accessible to all and water games featuring Nemo and his band will delight younger children.
Travellers will also visit Castaway Cay, Disney's private island in the Bahamas. Plenty of on-shore activities are available for all, including access to a bike trail and beach (open until 4:30 p.m. and featuring a section reserved for adults), with opportunities for snorkeling and swimming. Lunch is taken on site at no extra cost.
In addition to departing and returning to Port Canaveral (handy for those wishing to spend a few days in the parks of Walt Disney World Resorts before or after the cruise!), Disney Cruises offers several other routes.
In September 2015, a 10-day cruise will explore the islands of Hawaii aboard the Disney Wonder. Other destinations in the program include Alaska, the Caribbean, the California Coast, Europe (from Barcelona or Venice with stops in Greece, Italy, Spain, France, Turkey and Croatia), Mexico and the Panama Canal and even a transatlantic cruise from 11 to 14 nights. A 20 per cent discount is applied to certain destinations at certain times (just use the code "CAN").
Highlights of the Disney Dream
- Aquaduck: seated on an inner tube, travellers slide through a 'water coaster' that overlooks the boat, and even the sea!
- The detective game: With a map from the Midship Detective Agency which unlocks interactive boards on the walls of the boat, you discover clues that allow you to solve a puzzle. A great activity for parents and children.
- Shows: Every night different shows are presented. A must!
- Kids’ clubs: Parents can drop their kids off at the Oceaneer Club or Oceaneer Lab, which offer games, crafts and activities. The ship also offers the It’s A Small World nursery for babies, as well as Edge for youth ages 11-14 and Vibe for ages 14-17.
- Pirates: Jack Sparrow and his crew invite travellers to party on the bridge of the ship, an event closed out with a fireworks display.
