Air Transat suspends Puerto Rico service

Air Transat will suspend service to Puerto Rico for the 2017-2018 winter season, citing ongoing difficulties in the destination following this year's record hurricane season.

With the service suspended, additional flights to Mexico this season will be offered instead; operations in San Juan, Puerto Rico will resume for the 2018-19 winter season, Air Transat said.

Customers who had a reservation for Puerto Rico will be able to exchange it for any other Air Transat destination or obtain a full refund.

Air Transat is the latest Canadian carrier to suspend service to Puerto Rico this winter; earlier this fall, Air Canada announced it would cancel flights to the destination.
