Air Transat, in collaboration with the Peruvian Tourism Board, Promperu, is highlighting the success of a familiarization trip organized in Lima at the beginning of June to promote Peru as a new destination in its expanding network.

The group was made up of Air Transat sales teams and 10 tour operators and partners from Quebec and Ontario:

  • Tours Chanteclerc
  • Exotik Tours
  • Voyages Traditours
  • Martour International
  • Majestic Tours
  • Globus Family of Brands
  • Voyzant
  • Airmiles
  • Laurier du Vallon (groups and conferences)
  • BCD Travel

The focus of the program was on learning experiences and meetings with key tourism stakeholders, starting with a trade fair where participants were able to make initial contact with top local suppliers such as Peru VIP Travel, Lima Tours, Casa Andina, Latventure, Hotel las Dunas, Hilton Lima Miraflores, Chaski Ventura, Viaje Premium Peru, Machu Picchu Inc, and Tanit Trails.

The itinerary also included visits to several of Peru's landmarks, such as the city of Lima, the Ica wine region, the Paracas desert, the city of Cusco, the Sacred Valley and Machu Picchu, as well as a day of immersion in an Inca community at La Base Lamay.

These diverse experiences have helped to raise awareness of Peru's cultural, gastronomic and traditional heritage among key players in the Canadian travel industry.

“This trip has strengthened the ties between the partners, improved their understanding of the destination and generated a strong enthusiasm to promote Lima and other regions of Peru. This demonstrates Air Transat's commitment to enriching its offer by introducing attractive destinations such as Peru”, said Jhadyd Gonzalez, National Sales Manager at Air Transat, in a statement.

Air Transat inaugurated its new routes from Toronto and Montreal to Lima in December 2023.

The non-stop flights, the only ones between Canada and Peru, will be operated throughout the year, with two departures per week from Toronto and one departure per week from Montreal.
