Air France and Groupe ADP launch 'Short Connection Pass' to ease transfers at CDG
Air France-KLM and Groupe ADP have introduced a new system at Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport designed to help passengers with short connection times move through the airport more efficiently.
Announced at the 55th edition of the Paris Air Show in June, the initiative is the first rollout under the companies’ Connect France partnership, which aims to improve transit through Air France’s main hub.
Nearly half of Air France’s 140,000 daily passengers connect through CDG.
To support smoother transfers, Groupe ADP has created a dedicated route through the airport with updated multilingual signage.
The new process automatically prioritizes passengers with connection times below a set threshold—for example, 45 minutes between an arrival at Terminal 2F and a departure at Terminal 2E Hall K.
Once the inbound flight arrives, eligible passengers receive a text message and email notifying them of their status. Notifications will soon also be sent through the Air France mobile app and WhatsApp.
At the security and border control checkpoints, passengers scan their boarding passes, triggering a notification to Groupe ADP’s service provider. Priority access is then provided on the spot.
The system relies on real-time data from Air France, Groupe ADP, and the service provider—including estimated walking time, wait times at security and border control, and the departure time of the next flight.
“This initiative perfectly illustrates our shared ambition with the Air France-KLM Group: to streamline passenger flows and make Paris-Charles de Gaulle an even more efficient and attractive hub,” said Regis Lacote, executive vice-president of operations & innovation and director of Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport.
“The Short Connection Pass is simple for passengers and operationally effective—a real step forward in improving the travel experience.”
“Supporting our customers and making their journey easier is a top priority,” said Alain-Hervé Bernard, executive vice president of operations and cargo at Air France.
“Thanks to this joint initiative with Groupe ADP, we are further strengthening [CDG’s] appeal and reaffirming our ambition to position Paris-Charles de Gaulle among the world’s leading hubs.”
