Air Canada suspends flights to St. Maarten
Air Canada has suspended flight service to St. Maarten, citing extensive damage to the island, caused by Hurricane Irma last September.
As Hurricane Irma swept through the Caribbean, St. Maarten's Princess Juliana Airport was hit very badly.
"It is an unfortunate situation but the hurricane damage to the island was very severe," said Peter Fitzpatrick, manager, corporate communications, Air Canada.
The Princess Juliana International Airport re-opened on Oct. 10, and according to the Caribbean Journal, commercial flights are able to operate again. However, select carriers are flying into the island.
Due to extensive damage to airport infrastructures in St. Maarten Air Canada has extended its goodwill policy following the hurricane to include customers scheduled to fly to or from those affected areas.
For all travel to St. Maarten between Sept. 17 and Apr. 2 2018, clients may rebook free of charge until June 21, 2018.
Clients whose flight bookings may have been affected may contact Air Canada Reservations (1-888-247-2262) to change the flight to another date free of charge.
If you purchased your ticket with Aeroplan which may not meet accessibility guidelines, or Air Canada Vacations, please contact them directly.
