Air Canada achieved a single-day record for passengers carried July 30, 2015 and was prepared to surpass its record again on July 31 as Canadians took to the skies for the August holiday long weekend.
Air Canada welcomed an estimated 141,000 customers on board its aircraft on July 30, and forecasted bookings indicated that the number would grow to approximately 150,000 for July 31.
The record-breaking number of 150,000 passengers is equivalent to transporting the population of an entire mid-size Canadian city such as Abbotsford, B.C., or Oshawa, ON in a single day.
In a release by the company, the airline credited the numbers to the peak summer holiday period, as well as the introduction of its new routes.
