Hamilton man convicted of operating as travel agent without being registered
After being charged by The Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO), Alistair Hamilton was convicted of one count of operating as a travel agent without being registered.
Hamilton operated out of Hamilton, ON, selling European tour packages to consumers who were part of a social club. Hamilton at times operated under the name Flower of Scotland Travel Club, TICO says.
Hamilton was fined $12,500, inclusive of a victim surcharge and sentenced to a two-year probation. He has previously been charged and convicted of operating as a travel agent without registration.
If a member of the industry or public becomes aware of an unregistered operator selling travel in Ontario, they are encouraged to contact TICO at tico@tico.ca.
