"A fresh & flexible space": Flight Centre returns to Toronto’s Financial District
At a time when headlines are dominated by political and economic negativity, a beacon of optimism for the travel industry is shining in downtown Toronto.
Flight Centre Travel Group has revealed that it is returning to the city’s bustling Financial District, taking over a new location at Royal Bank Plaza.
The news, which was shared via LinkedIn on Wednesday (April 2), will bring the travel agency’s iconic red-and-white brand back to the heart of the city’s financial hub.
As Flight Centre celebrates 30 years in Canada, the prime retail space is positioned directly along a high-traffic corridor from Union Station, ensuring Flight Centre is right where travellers need them most.
It’s built to serve thousands of daily commuters and UP Express passengers arriving from Toronto Pearson airport (YYZ).
Chadd Andre executive vice president and general manager for Flight Centre Canada, said the location is more than just a store.
“It's designed to blend digital and in-person engagement, offering a fresh and flexible space for travellers to connect with expert consultants and plan their next adventure with an enhanced travel planning experience,” Andre said in a statement.
It’s a bright spot for an iconic brand that had to make severe cutbacks to its Canadian operations during the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In October 2020, Flight Centre laid off more than 600 of its employees in Canada – a move the company called “a very painful step” as it navigated the crippling effect that COVID-19 was having on travel at the time.
