Canada’s ClickTheMouse Travel named Disney platinum producer for second year in a row

It’s a travel agency that has gone to infinity…and beyond! (As Buzz Lightyear from Disney-Pixar’s Toy Story would say).

ClickTheMouse Travel, an Ontario-based agency that specializes in designing magical Disney vacations, has once again been named an EarMarked Platinum Producer for its stellar sales.

To become Platinum, a travel agency must achieve certain sales goals, as outlined by Disney Destinations. ClickTheMouse was one of two agencies to earn this status last year. In fact, it was the first time the designation had ever been awarded in Canada.

On achieving Platinum status for the second year in a row, ClickTheMouse’s Owner and Founder, Sandra Pappas, couldn’t be prouder.

“After revenge travel, we thought our sales would dip, but instead we are steadily growing,” Pappas told PAX. “This achievement does not come easily. The falling Canadian dollar makes our jobs harder in justifying the cost of a Disney vacation, but the magic of Disney is something you just can’t get anywhere else!”

Making magic happen

Indeed: the weak Canadian dollar has made travel to the United States, the epicenter for Disney vacations, a costlier endeavour. So, what’s fuelling ClickTheMouse’s sales?

Pappas said the biggest driver, these days, is Disney Cruise Line.

With the addition of the Disney Wish, the newly-christened Disney Treasure and the upcoming Disney Destiny and Adventure, “we are experiencing unprecedented interest,” she said.

“We are also seeing more Canadian resident offers provided by Disney, which helps Canadian vacationers feel valued by Disney,” she added.

There’s also continued interest in Walt Disney World, she added, with new attractions like Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Tron, with many more in the near future, like the highly-anticipated “Villains’ Land,” an expansion to Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World that is set to open in summer 2025 and be completed by 2029.

Authenticity & excitement at sea

ClickTheMouse Travel agency, which currently employs 58 travel advisors (and specializes in both Disney and Universal vacations), serves a 50-50 mix of new and repeat clients, Pappas explained.

“There is definitely an increase in repeat cruisers with Disney Cruise Line,” she said.

Still high from the buzz of D23 (Disney’s Fan Expo) last year, Pappas and her team are excited about Disney’s new ships, which are expected to roll out over the next few years.

By 2031, the line plans to have 13 vessels in the water. Four new ships are scheduled to join the fleet between 2027 and 2031. This will include three in a new and smaller ship class, and a new addition to the existing Wish class.

“Disney Cruise Line is something we love to sail on and see the world. If you love what you sell, the guest can feel the authenticity of your excitement and it isn’t a sale at all!” Pappas said.

As for today’s booking trends, Pappas says more guests are booking placeholders while on board their Disney Cruise.

This placeholder offers 10 per cent off a future cruise booked within the next two years, she explained.

“We are also finding more multigenerational and large families traveling together,” Pappas said. “It was Walt's vision to create a place where families can come together and create memories and we are excited to be a part of making that vision a reality.”

ClickTheMouse eyes expansion

ClickTheMouse Travel is no stranger to awards and recognition. In addition to achieving Platinum status, the agency has also earned Disney Earmarked Performance Awards in 2016, 2017, 2018 and an Earmarked Gold Award in 2019.

Universal Orlando also designated ClickTheMouse Platinum U-Preferred designations in 2023 and 2024.

Pappas advice to other travel advisors who are looking to get into the Disney vacation business?

“Research,” she said. “Disney is an intricate product with many changes that occur yearly, as well as many new attractions, entertainment offerings, ships and resorts.”

“Walt Disney said that Disneyland would always change and evolve and his dream was ‘something that will never be finished.’ The Walt Disney Company is keeping his vision alive.”

ClickTheMouse, meanwhile, is looking to expand.

“We hope that we can onboard agents that have the same knowledge and passion for Disney that our agency embraces,” Pappas said, sharing her long-term strategy.

ClickTheMouse, notably, has increased its commission tiers so agents earn up to 90 per cent based on sales performance.

“It is very important that our agents feel they are an important part of the team and the bigger picture,” Pappas told PAX. “We’ve focused on building an agency where every team member is valued and appreciated.”
