Transat has responded to a campaign aimed at rallying travel advisors around the suspended BonBon program, addressing its restitution process. "We are aware that some advisors have encountered difficulties during the process,” Julie Sareault, commercial director at Transat, tells PAX. Travel advisor Gail Lea says Transat is forcing advisors to “jump through hoops to be paid what belongs to us.”

The World Health Organization (WHO) declared the hantavirus outbreak linked to an expedition ship officially over on Thursday (July 2) after the last identified close contact of an infected person completed quarantine and tested negative for the virus. The outbreak involved the rare Andes strain of hantavirus, infecting 13 people and claiming three lives.

Turkish authorities have denied entry to a cruise ship carrying early 2,000 predominantly gay men, citing concerns that the voyage conflicts with the country's moral and social values.
The 10-day Mediterranean cruise, organized by Atlantis Events, operated by Virgin Voyages, is scheduled to depart Athens on July 5. "It’s very concerning," said Rich Campbell, CEO of Atlantis, in an interview.

The U.S. FAA has introduced new airworthiness directives that impose restrictions on aircraft lacking radio altimeter systems demonstrated to withstand Canada's updated 5G Lower C-band environment. The directives became effective July 1, coinciding with Canada's removal of airport exclusion and protection zones that had previously helped reduce the potential for 5G interference with radio altimeters.

Airlines and airports are urging the European Union to pause its new biometric border screening system – the Entry-Exit System (EES) – during the busy summer travel season, warning that it is causing major disruptions. They say some flights are departing with empty seats because passengers are delayed by border processing, with queues reportedly stretching to as long as five hours.
