Transat A.T. on Thursday (June 11) reported a second-quarter loss of $79 million, largely driven by a sharp increase in jet fuel costs. To help offset the financial impact, the airline plans to seek up to $150 million from the federal government's emergency loan program announced earlier this week.

A former Air Canada pilot is facing criminal charges after police alleged he spent years flying commercial aircraft using falsified credentials. According to Peel Regional Police, Geoffrey Wall, 59, flew roughly 900 domestic and international flights between 2009 and 2025, rising from first officer to captain, despite never obtaining the Airline Transport Pilot Licence.
