Canadian travel advisors can do both, as demonstrated by the dozen or so who gathered with the Jamaica Tourist Board at Toronto’s Palais Royale on Saturday (May 30) to take part in the Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation’s “Jam-Walk,” which supports the construction of schools in Jamaica. Canada’s Blue Diamond Resorts, a major foreign player in Cuba’s tourism industry for the past decade, has announced the immediate termination of its operations on the island, according to a statement issued by tour wholesaler Sudameria Travel. According to local reports, the properties will now be administered by Gaviota, a company that forms part of Grupo de Administración Empresarial S.A. (GAESA), the Cuban military conglomerate controlled by the armed forces.

Canada’s temporary Ebola-related border measures have officially taken effect. As previously reported, the measures, outlined by the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) last week, came into force at 11:59 p.m. EDT on Saturday (May 30) and will stay in effect until Aug. 29, 2026. PHAC maintains that the overall risk to Canadians remains low.

Delta Air Lines is expanding its network from Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the return of service to Vancouver (YVR). Beginning Nov. 21, the SkyTeam Alliance member will operate twice-daily nonstop flights between LAX and Vancouver International Airport (YVR) using an Airbus A319.

The Cayman Islands continued its record-breaking tourism performance in April 2026 by welcoming 47,884 stayover visitors, making this the best April in the Island’s history. Stayover arrivals were 3.9% higher than the previous record set in April 2019 and were up 12% year over year, compared to the corresponding period in 2025. Canada, for one, saw a 69% year-over-year increase.

ir Transat has officially announced a new non-stop route between Montreal (YUL) and Istanbul (IST), starting October 29, 2026. Operated year-round on an Airbus A330, the service will run twice weekly, on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Ontario plans to designate Toronto’s island airport as a “special economic zone,” a move aimed at accelerating its expansion after the province assumed control of the airport lands, says Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria. Legislation passed Thursday (May 28) gives the province authority over the lands on the Toronto Islands occupied by Billy Bishop airport (YTZ).
