Sunwing has shared exclusive updates with PAX about its strategy for Cuba this winter. As the island nation recovers from a string of power outages (and negative headlines), the tour operator is steering value-driven customers to “hidden gem” destinations that are less precarious. Sunwing is also ramping up quality control in Cuba. The company has removed 26 hotels from its portfolio due to negative reviews and is introducing a hotel framework for agents and consumers.

Sunwing has postponed its new service to Tulum to early December, PAX has learned. The flights, which were set to operate out of Toronto and Montreal airport starting this month, have been shifted due to a “technical operational” issue at Felipe Carrillo Puerto International Airport, Tulum’s new airport, which is welcoming a host of new carriers this winter season.

Tropical Storm Sara has drenched northeastern Honduras with rainfall. reports say. Earlier posts from the National Hurricane Centre told residents along the eastern Gulf of Mexico to monitor the storm for its potential to reach the United States, but the agency now believes the storm might not survive its path through Central America and Mexico’s Yucatán.

Apple and Air Canada are teaming up to help travellers locate and recover misplaced items like luggage. In a news release Monday, Apple revealed that a new iOS 18.2 feature, called “Share Item Location,” will help users find misplaced items by sharing the location of an AirTag or “Find My” network accessory with third parties – including airlines.

If you’ve seen boldfaced names from Canada’s tour operators posting pictures from Portugal on social media this week, chances are you’ve caught a glimpse at a milestone event. This week, The Canadian Association of Tour Operators (CATO) hosted its first-ever out-of-country symposium, landing in Alentejo. “This is a discovery for all," said CATO Jean Hebert of the event, which has partnered up with Visit Alentejo and TAP Air Portugal.
