Travellers are flying and driving together under a common theme: personalization, says Raina Williams, vice-president of Expedia Group Media Solutions. "It’s about experiencing something that’s really close and personal,” said Williams, presenting Expedia latest research, and how its pertain to U.S. travel, at Discover America Day – Canada on Oct. 30 in Toronto. Set-jetting, music and sports continue to drive visitation numbers, she said.

The German National Tourist Office (GNTO) is closing its office in Canada, PAX has learned. The office is closing due to “significant budget cuts” affecting the GNTO's operations in 2025, wrote Anja Brokjans, director for the GNTO, which is represented by VoX International in Canada. The “difficult decision” involves closing six offices worldwide, including Canada.

Life at Toronto Pearson airport (YYZ) will be a little tastier this month. During November, Canada’s largest airport is putting a fresh spin on airport dining with “Pearsonlicious,” a culinary event that unlocks three-course prix fixe menus at 18 participating restaurants in Terminals 1 and 3 – all for under $40.

Stewart Travel Group has just returned from two back-to-back river cruise charters in France, bringing home a cheque for $38,700 for Hospice PEI, a community-focused non-profit organization in Prince Edward Island. The funds were raised through the generosity of nearly 250 cruise guests who joined the trips.

Hawai'i's visitor arrivals are nearing pre-pandemic levels, with total visitor arrivals in September 2024 representing a 96.1% recovery from pre-COVID September 2019. It's the best recovery rate since the Maui wildfires (not including February 2024, which had a leap day). Canadian visitation is also up over last year.

Air Canada has teamed up with Vince Carter to celebrate his career as the Toronto Raptors retired his jersey Sunday evening (Nov. 3). Adding to the excitement, Air Canada has unveiled a special Vince Carter livery in honour of his impact on basketball in Canada. The livery will fly high until end of April 2025, proudly featuring Carter's silhouette, signature, and jersey number.

More than 60% of Canadians have travel plans in the coming months, according to YouGov survey commissioned by Flight Centre Canada. The study suggests that Canadians are prioritizing cost and value when it comes to planning travel. As for travel preferences, beach and family vacations are leading the way.

Strong demand for international travel has led Air Canada to raise its annual core profit forecast. Air Canada’s profit rose to $2.04 billion, or $5.38 per share, from $1.25-billion, or $3.08 per share, last year. Air Canada's CEO Michael Rousseau says the demand environment “remains favourable.”
