Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection has hired a new business development manager in Canada who specializes in luxury travel. Toronto-based Karla Laurenzana has joined the company’s Canadian sales team as a “luxury BDM,” PAX has learned. In this newly-created role, Laurenzana will assist travel advisors in selling the fancier brands in Hyatt’s Inclusive Collection, such as Impression by Secrets and Zoëtry.

Hyatt's Inclusive Collection brought reps from its most luxurious and AAA Five Diamond resorts and travel advisors together for an evening of culinary bliss Monday night (Sept. 30). A "Taste of Luxury," held at Toronto's Park Hyatt, flew in Yvann Monteiro, executive chef at Secrets Cap Cana, to serve up some tasty portions. Property updates were also shared. The team, including Karla Laurenzana, the brand's new "luxury BDM" for Canada, was on the scene.

Air Canada has been hit with a hefty fine from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) for violating airspace restrictions over Iraq, Reuters reports. The U.S. Department of Transportation imposed a $250,000 charge on Canada’s flag carrier for operating a United Airlines’ code over a region where the Federal Aviation Administration had banned U.S. operators from flying.

Travel agencies affiliated with TRAVELSAVERS Canada have named their “greatest challenges” in a new survey that was shared Monday (Sept. 30). The report sheds light on “pain points," including suppliers who take direct bookings and OTA competition. Travel agency owners and managers are also concerned about the impact of the current economic climate on their business, the report says.
