The Travel Agent Next Door held its own People’s Choice Awards at its national conference in Jordan on Tuesday (June 4), honouring its most supportive suppliers – a list voted on by agents themselves. Flemming Friisdahl, TTAND’s founder, also shared company updates regarding technology. Omar Banihani, director of marketing for Canada at the Jordan Tourism Board, called the event "the best thing for us to do."

Air Transat and Porter Airlines are launching the first phase of their joint venture. Travellers can now use each partner's distribution channels to book direct and connecting flights with either Air Transat or Porter, significantly increasing their access to a range of destinations around the world.

Yesterday (June 4), Brand USA launched its first-ever Canada Connect event at The Vault Room in downtown Toronto’s One King West hotel.
The gathering brought together Canadian buyers, including tour operators, airlines, and online travel agencies, with representatives from 37 U.S. destinations, attractions, and products, sparking new opportunities and collaborations. The event format will continue this week in Montreal (June 5) and Calgary (June 6).

Marriott International Inc. has announced that it will work with Playa Hotels & Resorts to expand The Luxury Collection brand in the Mexican Caribbean, with Paraiso de la Bonita, a Luxury Collection Adult All-Inclusive Resort, Riviera Maya. Set to open in late 2024, the resort will be situated on 14 acres of natural landscape between a mangrove reserve and the waters of the Mexican Caribbean.

WestJet on Tuesday (June 4) officially launched its newest fare option, called “UltraBasic.” Replacing the Basic fare, UltraBasic is WestJet’s lowest priced option and has been designed as a no-frills fare that gives guests the choice to add certain extras like reserving a seat in advance or adding a checked bag.

Starting today (June 5), Air Canada will introduce premium complimentary snacks, featuring homegrown Canadian favourites, to all customers on all flights. The airline is also expanding its complimentary beer and wine offer to customers on flights within Canada and the U.S., alongside a selection of $5 spirits, through the end of this year.

President and CEO Stephen Jones of Flair Airlines has announced that he will retire this summer. According to a press release, a recruitment process for a permanent replacement is underway and industry veteran and Flair COO Maciej Wilk will be named Interim President and CEO until the permanent replacement is selected by the Board of Directors.

Trevello is celebrating what it calls "an unprecedented achievement" at this year's Sandals Awards. Carnival Corporation will sunset its P&O Cruises Australia brand and fold the operations into Carnival Cruise Line, according to a press release. P&O Cruises Australia will cease its operations in 2025 after more than 90 years. P&O's Pacific Encounter and Pacific Adventure ships and workforce will be transferred to Carnival’s fleet, while Pacific Explorer will be retired.

Air Canada Vacations has updated its self-service travel tools, which provide travel advisors and customers with added flexibility and convenience. Agents can now add Travel Protection CareFree and CareFlex up to 48 hours after the booking date. Private transfers can also be included post-booking, as well as Las Vegas excursions, lounge and golf add-ons.

Iberostar has announced plans for its first hotel in Aruba – JOIA Aruba by Iberostar. Located on Eagle Beach, the property will be located just 15 minutes from the Queen Beatrix International Airport, 10 minutes from downtown Oranjestad, and six minutes from the shopping area of Palm Beach.
