WestJet has relaunched its booking channel for the trade, but with some restrictions as the airline takes a phased approach to activating the new online tool, PAX has learned. For Phase One, “only past users of the original booking platform, WestJet Agent, are able to access WestJet Agent Direct,” Julia Brunet, a public relations coordinator at WestJet, told PAX in an email.

The Canadian sales team at TTC Tour Brands landed in Mississauga, ON Wednesday (May 8) as part of a 14-city roadshow across Canada. Porter Airlines is scheduled to offer travellers its "most substantial summer schedule to date," the airline said Thursday (May 9). The schedule is set to feature up to 176 daily flights to 27 destinations across North America taking off from Toronto. By August, Porter says it will be the third-largest carrier flying from Toronto Pearson airport.

Jamaica recorded 1.7 million visitors as of May 7 of this year, according to the country’s Ministry of Tourism. Based on preliminary data, the island recorded 1,016,185 stopover arrivals and over 700,000 cruise passengers, earning roughly US$1.8 billion in revenue, says Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, saying the island is on track to welcome five million by 2025.

Alaska’s newest cruise port, Port Klawock, opened on Monday (May 6) with the arrival of the Seabourn Odyssey. The Indigenous-owned port is located near the Tlingit village of Klawock on the Pacific side of Prince of Wales Island. The new port aims to improve Alaska’s cruise market with enhanced cultural engagement and sustainable practices.
