You gotta hand it to Trevello. The host agency has found a sweet spot on the calendar for hosting its national conference, which kicked off on Travel Advisor Day (May 1) aboard the Ruby Princess, on a voyage to Alaska. This year's "Trailblazing" conference, which doubles as a 30th anniversary celebration, has a delegation of some 400 people. It comes amid "booming" cruise sales. PAX reports on location.

Air Canada released its Q1 results on Thursday (May 2), reporting a loss of $81 million as operating revenue rose seven per cent from a year ago. Expenses increased as the carrier added seat capacity, which Air Canada says will rise by about seven per cent in Q2. Michael Rousseau, president and CEO, says the airline continues to see a "healthy demand."

Virgin Voyages – Sir Richard Branson’s adults-only cruise line – has shared new details about its new ship, Brilliant Lady, which is set to hit the high seas in September 2025. The fourth and final vessel in the Virgin Voyages Lady Fleet is set to navigate destinations like Alaska and the waters of the Panama Canal.

Air travel continues to see an increase in demand, with the International Air Transport Association’s (IATA’s) data for March 2024 showing a steady rise. North American carriers saw a 14.5% year-on-year increase in demand, IATA says. Capacity increased 14.8% year-on-year, while the load factor fell to 84.7%.

Holland America Line has announced a Glacier Guarantee, which assures travellers they won't return home disappointed. From now through September 2025, if Holland America Line does not visit an Alaska glacier, guests are eligible to receive a Future Cruise Credit equal to 15 per cent of their cruise fare.
