Tisson Travel Group, which launches today (Sept. 5), is a “strong community of Alberta-based travel pros where we can rely on people in our own backyard,” Dyrland tells PAX in an interview about her new venture.

Air Canada has announced a new, year-round route between Montreal and Madrid beginning next May, as part of its expanded international summer 2024 flying schedule. The airline on Tuesday (Sept. 5) said it plans to operate 100 per cent of its peak summer 2019 trans-Atlantic capacity next year, taking advantage of the “robust recovery” in its largest international market.

Mexico City’s old airport has been ordered by the government to reduce flights into the facility by 17 per cent, a move that has triggered warnings of possible mass flight cancellations. The new rules are set to take effect by Oct. 29 and would require the terminal to reduce the number of flights per hour at the airport from 52 to 43, reports say.

Crystal Symphony officially re-entered service last Friday (Sept. 1) following an extensive refurbishment after being purchased by A&K Travel Group last summer. WestJet is swooping in to pick up some of the seats that Air Canada will drop from its Calgary schedule this winter. Canada’s second-largest airline says it will increase its service from Calgary International Airport (YYC) to both Ottawa and Los Angeles beginning October 30.

Last month, the Travel Agent Next Door rewarded its top performers with a 12-day High Arctic Explorer Expedition on the Ocean Endeavour hosted by Adventure Canada. The voyage departed from Resolute Bay and called at Beechey Island, Lancaster Sound and Devon Island, Pond Inlet as well as Ilulissat, Sisimiut Coast and Kengerlussuaq in Greenland.

Ahead of its Canadian launch this November, low-cost Caribbean airline Arajet has announced Anjuna Global (APG) as its official sales agent and local partner for the market. Arajet will offer direct flights from Santo Domingo to Toronto starting Oct. 24 and to Montreal starting Nov. 7.

The Vancouver International Airport has launched a new tool to help travellers get to their gates on time. Called YVR TimeLine, passengers can scan a QR code at the terminal, enter their flight number and the system will identify if they are at risk of missing their flight.
