Air Canada issues alert for Houston as Tropical Storm Edouard threatens flights

Air Canada has issued a travel alert for Houston as Tropical Storm Edouard threatens to disrupt flights on Wednesday (Sept. 2).

The airline says flights to and from George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) may be impacted by the storm throughout the day.

In response, Air Canada has revised its ticketing policy, allowing customers travelling on affected flights to make changes to their bookings without penalty, subject to availability.

Passengers whose flights are impacted can retrieve their bookings online and change their flights free of charge.

Travellers who booked through Air Canada Vacations are advised to contact the tour operator directly at 1-800-296-3408.

Air Canada is also urging passengers to check their flight status or call its automated flight information system at 1-888-422-7533 before heading to the airport.

The airline has additional rebooking policies in place for anticipated flight delays and cancellations.

“Air Canada is monitoring the situation closely and is working to get you on your way safely and as quickly as possible,” the airline said.

Reports say the system is expected to dissipate by Wednesday night.
