Tourism Ireland hosted an industry and media luncheon in Toronto on January 28, 2026, welcoming Ireland’s minister for culture, communications and sport Patrick O’Donovan and Ireland’s Ambassador to Canada John Concannon.

The luncheon centred on the 2027 Ryder Cup, set to take place at Adare Manor in County Limerick, which will mark the tournament’s centenary.

The Ryder Cup returns to Ireland for the first time since 2006, when Team Europe won at The K Club.

Tourism Ireland said the Minister highlighted the role of sports tourism as Ireland prepares for the biennial event, pointing to Adare and Adare Manor’s Tom Fazio-designed championship course as the venue expected to draw global attention in 2027.

The delegation was also joined by MP James Maloney, who introduced a 2021 House of Commons motion designating March as Irish Heritage Month, recognizing the nearly 4.5 million Canadians who claim Irish ancestry.

“Ireland’s reputation as a premier destination for championship golf events is well established, and with over a third of the world’s natural links courses and renowned Irish hospitality, the island offers an unrivalled experience for visitors both on and off the course,” said Sandra Moffatt, Tourism Ireland’s country director for Canada.

Tourism Ireland also highlighted Ireland’s golf lineup and upcoming events, including Royal Portrush hosting the 153rd Open Championship in 2025 and the planned opening of Curracloe Links in 2027.
