The team from Santa Monica Travel and Tourism landed in Toronto last week, welcoming more than 60 travel advisors at the city’s downtown Ace Hotel.

The casual, relaxed and fun event was full of good news as Ozzie Otero, director of sales at Santa Monica Travel and Tourism, reminded the group on how important the Canadian market is for the city.

“Santa Monica is LA’s beachside city and we have direct flights on Air Canada from Toronto to LAX and Santa Monica is only 13 kilometres from the LAX airport," he said in a statement. "With more than 40 hotels to choose from, lots of outdoor activities, health and wellness experiences like yoga on the beach, the iconic Santa Monica Pier, a variety of culinary experiences from Michelin star restaurants to only in Santa Monica hidden gems, and shopping on the Third Street Promenade there is so much to choose from.”

“Our team are fully invested in this market and look forward to growing business from Toronto and Montreal to Santa Monica.”

The coastal city, located west of downtown L.A., is home to such attractions like the Pacific Park amusement park (featuring the world's only solar-powered Ferris wheel), the Looff Hippodrome Carousel and the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium.

The famous Santa Monica Pier – opened in 1909, the first concrete pier on the West Coast – is also known as one of the best fishing spots in town.

Visitors can dine at world-class restaurants, explore farmers markets, browse art galleries on Pico Boulevard or just soak up the energy along Main Street.

And, blessed with comfortable year-round weather, Santa Monica is all about living life outdoors, whether its shopping or enjoying beach activities like surfing or volleyball. The destination is also very walkable and bike-friendly, which you often don’t see in L.A. neighbourhoods.
