The Mazatlán Tourism Board has successfully completed its annual promotional tour in Western Canada, connecting with over 300 travel professionals and media representatives in Calgary, Edmonton, Kelowna, and Vancouver.

The tour’s goal? To spotlight Mazatlán’s expanding tourism infrastructure, strengthen ties with the Canadian market, and underscore the city’s promise of both value and quality for international visitors.

At the heart of the mission was a wave of new hotel developments from internationally recognized brands, signalilng a surge in investor confidence and long-term potential for the destination. Major announcements included:

  • Pueblo Bonito Vantage – A boutique 25-room hotel housed in a historic downtown building.

  • Holiday Inn Express – A 132-room property located along the scenic boardwalk.

  • Reverb by Hard Rock – The first of its kind in Mexico, this $550 million USD development will feature 170 rooms and is set to open in 2028.

  • RIU Tower – A significant new addition with 750 rooms, expected to open in 2026.

  • Additional hotels are in development from Wyndham, Aloft, Avid, Fiesta Americana, and others.

“These new investments reflect the confidence international brands have in Mazatlán’s long-term potential," said Mireya Sosa Osuna, Secretary of Tourism for the State of Sinaloa, in a press release. “In 2025 alone, we expect a 10 per cent increase in hotel capacity compared to last year."

However, the focus of the tour went beyond infrastructure. Representatives emphasized the broader visitor experience and the exceptional value Mazatlán offers to Canadian travellers — from favourable exchange rates to convenient direct flights.

“We’re not just adding hotel rooms — we’re expanding what the destination can offer,' stated Edna Gutiérrez, director of promotion for the Mazatlán Tourism Board. “Mazatlán continues to deliver strong value for Canadian travelLers looking for more than just sun and sand."
