Jamaica's hotels announce reopening dates following Melissa
Hurricane Melissa, a Category 5 storm, swept through Jamaica on October 28, causing significant damage, particularly to the western parts of the island.
In the wake of the devastating storm, Jamaica's Minister of Tourism Edmund Bartlett issued a message to travellers and industry partners on November 5: "Jamaica needs our partners now more than ever and the best way to support our tourism sector and economy is to visit us."
With all three of Jamaica's international airports now open and recovery efforts well underway, the island is targeting a full tourism restart on December 15.
Major resort brands have been assessing damage and announcing their reopening timelines, giving travellers clarity on when they can return to their favourite island destination.
