Belize makes a Canadian splash with three-city roadshow, more airlift
The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) has wrapped a three-city Canadian roadshow, connecting with hundreds of travel industry professionals as the destination gears up for the fall and winter travel season.
Held Sept. 9-11, the roadshow visited Toronto, Montreal and Calgary, with partners from the Belize Hotel Association, Best Western Plus Belize Biltmore Plaza and Darah Travel joining the tourism board.
The Canadian push focused on new tourism developments, hotel growth and expanded air connectivity, including new seasonal service from Winnipeg and flight options from Toronto, Montreal and Calgary.
The roadshow also coincided with Belize’s 45th year of independence and the destination’s “
Belize at 45” campaign, which is offering travellers savings of up to 45 per cent on accommodation rates at participating properties.
The promotion is available to book through Oct. 31, 2026, for travel through Nov. 15, 2026.
“Canada remains one of Belize's most important international markets, and the opportunity to connect directly with travel advisors, tour operators and industry partners is invaluable,” said Gale Malic-Ozaeta, marketing and communications manager at the Belize Tourism Board, in a press release.
“Through this roadshow, we were able to share what's new in the destination, reinforce the ease of access from Canada and equip partners with the tools and knowledge needed to confidently sell Belize in Canada.”
Three cities, three days
The delegation kicked off its Canadian visit in Toronto, where Belize participated as an exhibitor at ACTA's Eastern Canada Travel Industry Summit in Toronto.
Representatives met with travel advisors and participated in educational sessions centred on emerging travel trends and destination opportunities.
Belize also participated in the inaugural Central America Tourism Agency (CATA) Roadshow in Canada, which brought together tourism boards and industry partners from across Central America.
The CATA roadshow stopped in Toronto on Sept. 9 before heading to Montreal on Sept. 10, giving Belize an opportunity to connect with travel advisors, tour operators, airline representatives and other tourism stakeholders.
The Canadian tour concluded Sept. 11 with the Belize Calgary Connect Happy Hour Reception.
The Calgary event included a destination presentation highlighting Belize’s cultural heritage, adventure offerings and sustainable tourism initiatives, along with updates on accommodations, attractions and experiences.
More ways to reach Belize
Expanded air connectivity was another focus of the Canadian visit.
Earlier this summer, Belize and WestJet announced a new seasonal nonstop route between Winnipeg and Belize, beginning in December 2026.
The service will complement existing seasonal non-stop flights from Toronto with Air Canada and WestJet, Calgary with WestJet, and Montreal with Air Canada.
The added capacity gives Canadian travellers more options for reaching the Central American destination during the winter season.
Belize, the only Central American country with English as its official language, offers a mix of beach, nature, adventure and cultural experiences.
Among its best-known attractions is the Belize Barrier Reef Reserve System, which includes the Great Blue Hole and forms part of the second-largest barrier reef system in the world.
Travellers can also visit ancient Maya sites, explore the Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary and combine rainforest adventures with stays along the coast and on Belize’s islands.
Training travel advisors
As it works to grow Canadian visitation, BTB is also putting a renewed emphasis on travel advisor education.
The tourism board has relaunched its Belize Travel Specialist Program, which provides advisors with destination training, sales resources and updates, as well as access to future FAM opportunities.
The program is designed to give advisors more knowledge and tools to qualify clients and sell the destination.
Canadian travel advisors can register for the program through the Belize Travel Specialist portal.
