Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) has launched Barbados Remembers Your Name, a global destination campaign highlighting the personal connections that keep visitors returning to the island.

The campaign will share stories of repeat visitors and the Barbadians they have come to know over years of travelling to Barbados.

It begins rolling out across the island’s key international markets in September 2026.

BTMI’s Loyal Visitors Club, which recognizes travellers who have visited the island 25 times, has more than 500 registered members.

Some have recorded more than 100 trips to Barbados.

According to BTMI, visitors consistently cite the people as a reason they return.

“We hear from repeat visitors all the time that the people are a big part of why they come back to Barbados,” said Andrea Franklin, BTMI’s chief executive officer.

“Over time, they build relationships here. They have people who remember them and places they always return to, and those connections become part of their Barbados experience.”

Among the visitors featured are Ed and Pat Traver, who have been married for 37 years and have been visiting Barbados for the past 33 years.

The couple are members of the Loyal Visitors Club.

“When we first started coming, we were only visiting for one week at a time. We’d always talk to people and they would say they’d been coming for four or five weeks. We thought, ‘How could people do that?’ Now we’re the ones doing it,” Ed said.

“We just love it. We love the people, we love the food, the weather, and we feel very safe here,” he added.

For Pat, favourite experiences include eating local dishes such as flying fish, enjoying rum punch and taking catamaran trips along the coast.

The campaign will also highlight the restaurant owners, vendors, taxi drivers, hotel employees, tour guides and small business owners who become part of visitors’ routines and relationships on the island.

Anderson King, BTMI’s director of marketing, said the campaign offers an opportunity to share a side of Barbados that is not always captured in traditional tourism advertising.

“We wanted a campaign that could work globally while still feeling unmistakably Barbadian,” King said.

“Barbados Remembers Your Name gives us a platform to tell many different stories about the destination, but with that same idea of familiarity and connection running through all of them.”

The rollout will be supported by ongoing stories featuring repeat visitors and the Barbadians they return to see.
