VIDEO: “Travel agents mean everything”: G Adventures celebrates trade at purple-filled party

A sea of purple filled the Storys Building in downtown Toronto Wednesday night (Feb. 19) as G Adventures hosted its annual “G'evening with Friends” event to celebrate the travel advisor community.

In between drinks (including a G-inspired purple cocktail, called the "G’evening Fizz”), canapés, a fire-breathing saxophone player named Andre, and fun games (like Family Feud and Jeopardy), the fabulous night also raised money for the Planeterra Foundation, G’s non-profit arm, which uses community tourism to change lives in the destinations it visits ($3,610 was raised in total!)

Donning a sparkling purple blazer, David Green, VP of customer and sales operations and managing director for Canada at G Adventures, spoke to PAX about the importance of supporting the travel trade.

“We cannot do what we do without the help of travel agents. It’s as simple as that. Travel agents mean everything,” Green said. “We’re also a complex product. 12 different travel styles, over 850 tours. There’s a lot to take in.”

PAX had its cameras rolling at the celebratory event, which included support from PromPeru (Peru’s tourism board), the Jordan Tourism Board, the Cuba Tourist Board, ProColombia, the Costa Rican Tourism Board and Tourism Ireland.

Here, PAX speaks to Green about G Adventures’ record sales growth in Canada, new and upcoming trips and incentives, and the importance of supporting travel communities.
