UNWTO condemns Paris attacks
The UNWTO has added its voice to those condemning last week’s terror attacks in Paris.
"On the behalf of the international tourism community, UNWTO conveys its heartfelt condolences to the families and friends of the victims and expresses its full solidarity with the people and the Government of France” said UNWTO Secretary-General Taleb Rifai. “We are facing a global threat and this is not an attack on France, it is an attack against us all,” he added.
According to reports, at least 132 people were killed Nov. 13, when multiple coordinated gun and bomb attacks took place across the city that night, including at a crowded concert hall and several bars and restaurants. More than 180 were also injured.
The attacks come 10 months after gunmen stormed the offices of satirical French magazine Charlie Hebdo in January, later attacking a supermarket and a police officer, killing 18 people in those incidents.
