#ThrowbackThursday with Ajay Tandon

I was born in India, but I joined KLM in 1989. My first posting was in the Maldives (not too bad for a first day!), and from there, I was sent to work in Sri Lanka, Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Yemen, Kazakhstan, and finally, Amsterdam.
I considered myself lucky to have the opportunity to travel so extensively, and to live in so many different places during my work with KLM, but I was forced to realize a downside to living so nomadically when my son Leon, then a student at the International School in Amsterdam, was asked to draw the flag of the country he belonged to.
Being only about five years old at the time, Leon drew a flag with the KLM logo on it.
Needless to say, although it was funny at the time, my wife and I also realized that our kids needed a more solid identity. That’s what brought us to Canada, where we have lived as proud Canadians since 2002.
