Orlando marks record 2014 with 62 million visitors

Orlando welcomed more than 62 million visitors in 2014, setting a new record for U.S. tourism.
According to Visit Orlando, the number represents a five per cent increase from 2013, solidifying Orlando’s position as the most visited city in the U.S.
With the city’s theme parks drawing many of those visitors, new investments at the parks continue including Walt Disney World Resort’s New Fantasyland and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter – Diagon Alley at Universal Orlando Resort, both of which opened last year and are expected to draw even more tourists in 2015, Visit Orlando said.
In addition to parks, Visit Orlando attributed the increasing tourism numbers to factors such as the city’s culinary scene and increasing number of luxury accommodations, including the Four Seasons Resort Orlando which opened in 2014.
