National Geographic Signature with G expands with 17 new expeditions

National Geographic Signature with G Adventures is expanding its high-end expedition portfolio with 17 new itineraries, bringing the collection to 67 trips across 48 destinations.

The latest additions span destinations including Kenya, New Zealand, Rwanda, Sri Lanka, Iceland and Ecuador, with a focus on rare access, expert-led experiences and deeper connections with local communities.

The expansion comes as G Adventures reports growing demand for higher-end travel experiences that pair comfort and service with immersive cultural encounters, conservation and community tourism.

Signature is also bringing community tourism into the luxury travel space, with experiences designed to connect travellers with local people, cultures and traditions while generating benefits for the communities they visit.

“The overwhelmingly positive response to National Geographic Signature with G Adventures has demonstrated travellers are looking for trips that align strongly with their values,” said Yves Marceau, VP Product at G Adventures.

“They still expect outstanding service and comfort, but increasingly they're looking for experiences that broaden their perspective. Signature speaks to a generation of travellers who want to return home with a richer understanding of the world.”

Expert access

A defining element of the Signature collection is access to National Geographic Expedition Experts, whose backgrounds span photography, conservation, wildlife biology, geology, archaeology, history and other fields.

Travellers are also accompanied by a National Geographic Expedition Leader, who provides local knowledge, storytelling and context throughout each journey.

Another cornerstone is the collection's Signature Moments – exclusive experiences ranging from exploring Norway's Fjord Centre alongside a curator to cooking with a world-renowned chef in Morocco.

Other experiences include behind-the-scenes access to museums, historic landmarks and research initiatives, as well as encounters with National Geographic grantees and local guides.

The 17 new itineraries build on that approach with experiences such as visiting an Indigenous community-owned African elephant sanctuary in Kenya, exploring Iceland's geology alongside a volcanologist and venturing into New Zealand's Waitomo Glowworm Caves with an ecologist.

Kenya, New Zealand & Rwanda

The new eight-day Signature: Kenya's Wildlife & Cultural Heritage itinerary combines safari experiences in Samburu and the Masai Mara with a visit to Reteti, an Indigenous community-owned African elephant sanctuary.

Travellers will learn about community-led conservation, explore the African night sky with local naturalists and enjoy a community-sourced meal with the women of Amani ya Juu.

In New Zealand, the 13-day Signature: New Zealand, Milford Sound & Māori Culture itinerary combines natural landscapes with Indigenous culture and wildlife.

Highlights include exploring the Waitomo Glowworm Caves with an ecologist, experiencing a traditional Māori Hāngī and cruising through Milford Sound. Travellers will also visit eco-sanctuary Zealandia for a private dinner and guided twilight wildlife trek and search for rare Hector's dolphins during a private Akaroa cruise.

The eight-day Signature: Rwanda's Primate Kingdoms, meanwhile, explores the country's wildlife, conservation efforts and recent history.

The itinerary includes a private visit and discussion at the Kigali Genocide Memorial, a community weaving initiative and chimpanzee tracking in Nyungwe. In Volcanoes National Park, travellers will search for mountain gorillas and golden monkeys while hearing from scientists involved in gorilla conservation.

Sri Lanka, Iceland & Ecuador

The 11-day Signature: Sri Lanka's Highlands, Yala & Galle moves between tea country, UNESCO sites, national parks and the southern coast.

Travellers will take part in an immersive tea experience, embark on a private safari in Yala National Park and receive special access to the inner chamber of the Temple of the Sacred Tooth.

The itinerary also incorporates marine conservation, traditional craftsmanship and a home-style lunch at a women-led social enterprise.

For travellers looking north, Signature: Iceland's Winterscapes, Golden Circle & Northern Lights is a six-day journey showcasing Iceland's volcanic landscapes, glaciers, waterfalls and the Aurora Borealis.

The trip includes walking between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates at Þingvellir, an exclusive private tour of the Hellisheiði Geothermal Power Plant and a visit to the Lava Centre with a volcanologist.

Travellers will also taste traditional rye bread baked beneath the earth at Laugarvatn Fontana and head into the countryside in search of the Northern Lights.

In South America, the seven-day Signature: Ecuador's Amazon Rainforest & Andean Highlands travels from Quito into the Amazon and the Andes.

Experiences include special after-hours access to the Intiñan Museum, learning about the astronomical knowledge of the pre-Inca Quitu-Cara culture and exploring the Amazon with naturalists. The itinerary also includes a stay at a historic Andean hacienda and an exploration of Otavalo's embroidery traditions and market.

Other destinations represented among the 17 newly announced Signature itineraries include India, Botswana, southern Africa, East Africa and the United States.
