More changes at Contiki as Marathakis promoted to national sales manager

Contiki’s Dave Marathakis has been promoted as the youth tour operator’s new national sales manager, effective immediately.

Once a trip manager for over three years running Contiki adventures throughout the UK and Europe, Marathakis first joined the Canada team as a sales manager for Eastern Canada, before recently becoming the team’s Senior Sales manager. In his new role, Marathakis will lead sales for the youth travel expert and continue to further develop relationships with trade partners across Canada.

“Over the previous four years as a sales manager with Contiki, I have had the pleasure of getting to know and helping amazing agents in Canada. With this new and exciting opportunity as National Sales Manager, I am able to pass my passion onto a new, dynamic and young sales team to continue the support and grow our trade partners all over the country,” said Marathakis.

Originally from Australia, Dave has been Contiki Canada’s lone Aussie for the past four years, first in a Sales Manager role overseeing all regions in Eastern Canada and then as a senior sales manager, responsible for managing more than 400 individual accounts across Canada and helping to support the development of the sales team. He comes to his new role as national sales manager with immense understanding and knowledge of the travel agent’s day-to-day life, having been one himself as a team leader at Flight Centre in Toronto prior to joining the Contiki Canada team.

Marathakis’ appointment comes just days after Contiki announced Sheralyn Berry as the company’s new Canadian president.
