G Adventures has announced small-group football (soccer) trips, a new collection of tours that tap into the booming sports tourism trend, bringing football lovers together in Europe’s greatest football cities.

Called “Away Games,” the series of premium trips are designed to bring football enthusiasts together to celebrate the community, traditions and the passion that comes with the culture.

The first-to-market small-group, football-focused trips combine iconic live matches with the immersive cultural experiences and community spirit G Adventures is known for around the world.

Launching in some of Europe’s most legendary football destinations, including London, Manchester, Madrid and Barcelona, Away Games promises premium matchday experiences, insider access and cultural immersion, allowing travellers to experience football's greatest rivalries and atmospheres without the stress of planning complex international trips.

30+ departures

Away Games launches with more than 30 departures, with the first trips kicking off in October 2026 following the release of the English football calendar.

Additional Spanish departures will be announced next month once the Madrid and Barcelona fixtures are revealed.

Travellers can book now to secure access to some of the world’s most in-demand football matches – “experiences renowned for selling out in record time,” said G Adventures in a press release.

The made-in-Canada tour operator says it is “stepping into a rapidly-growing cultural movement.”

According to UN Tourism, sports tourism is one of the fastest growing sectors and accounts for an estimated 10 per cent of global tourism.

Yet for many fans, attending a dream match overseas feels out of reach due to the complexity of securing tickets, navigating unfamiliar destinations and coordinating logistics.

Away Games "removes those barriers, offering a seamless premium experience and a ready-made community of like-minded fans from arrival to final whistle,” said the company.

More than watching a match

“At G Adventures, we’ve always believed travel is about human connection, and there are few communities more passionate, emotional and united than football fans,” said Yves Marceau, VP of product at G Adventures, in a statement.

“Away Games is about much more than watching a match. It’s about belonging and being part of something bigger. It’s about singing with locals in supporter pubs, celebrating a last-minute goal with fellow travellers after the final whistle, and experiencing a destination through the lens of its football culture.”

“We saw an opportunity to create something completely new in the adventure travel space, and we’re incredibly excited to bring fans together in a way only G Adventures can.”

VIP experiences

Each Away Games trip is led by a football-loving G Adventures Chief Experience Officer (CEO), whose passion for the sport helps unite the group and bring the local football culture to life.

On matchday, fans will enjoy VIP club-level seating, premium lounge access, and hospitality packages,  while also gaining access to iconic stadiums including Old Trafford and Stamford Bridge, the legendary homes of Manchester United and Chelsea FC.

Beyond the main event, itineraries dive deeper into sports heritage and local culture.

Travellers will go behind-the-scenes with historic stadium tours, join guided journeys through legendary supporter pubs, and explore each city’s culinary hotspots on local food tours. To experience the true roots of the game, the trips also feature lower-league match experiences among die-hard home supporters.

With plenty of free time built in, travellers can soak up the atmosphere of the city beyond the stadium gates, balancing football fandom with authentic local exploration.
