Intrepid Travel has launched “Stay Intrepid,” a brand extension featuring a collection of six properties that offer community-driven stays.

The range includes five signature properties across Australia, as well as a riad in Morocco, with plans to grow into new destinations in the coming years.

The accommodation, which can be booked independent of Intrepid tours, are distinct in character but united by Intrepid’s “locally-led, responsible travel ethos, supporting local businesses, celebrating regional cuisine,” reads a press release.

The hotels are also about driving positive impact through partnerships with Intrepid’s non-profit, The Intrepid Foundation.

The current Stay Intrepid portfolio includes:

  • Daintree Ecolodge on Eastern Kuku Yalanji Country in Queensland's ancient Daintree Rainforest.
  • Edge of the Bay on Palawa Country along Tasmania’s Freycinet coastline.
  • Arkaba Homestead on Adnyamathanha Country in South Australia’s Flinders Ranges.
  • Bamarru Plains on Limilngan and neighbouring Aboriginal Lands – Northern Territory.
  • Ooraminna Homestead on Arrernte Country outside Alice Springs.
  • Riad Joudour in the Marrakech medina in Morocco.

Each property promises curated experiences that connect travellers with nature and local culture.

These include First Nations guided cultural walks and basket weaving at the Daintree Ecolodge, a boutique retreat with treetop bayans nestled in the heart of the World Heritage listed Daintree Rainforest. South Australia’s Arkaba Homestead in the Flinders Ranges offers immersive bush walks and safari drives, highlighting native wildlife and ongoing conservation efforts.

While Riad Joudour in Morocco invites travellers to take part in a cooking class with Intrepid Foundation partner Amal Association, which provides culinary training to help women in Morocco improve their employment opportunities and livelihoods.

“Stay Intrepid represents an exciting next step in our ambition to bring immersive travel experiences to more people around the world. It opens up new opportunities to create stays that are experience-led and rooted in community, aligning with our mission to create positive change through the joy of travel. By working closely with people and partners in each destination, we’ve developed unique experiences that deepen travellers’ connection with nature and local culture,, while providing an exceptional base for exploration and relaxation,” said Richmond Sear, general manager of accommodation Australia at Intrepid Travel.

The company plans to grow its global accommodation portfolio to include up to 20 Stay Intrepid properties by 2028.
