Intrepid cancels Cuba trips through April
Intrepid Travel is cancelling all trips to Cuba through April 30 as the country continues to face widespread power outages and fuel shortages.
Cuba has experienced repeated nationwide blackouts, including an island-wide outage on March 16 that left roughly 10 million people without electricity.
Fuel supply issues have also persisted, with uncertainty around how broader global constraints may affect the situation in the coming weeks.
Travellers currently in Cuba can continue their itineraries as planned, Intrepid said.
However, all departures up to and including April 30 have been cancelled.
The company said it will continue to monitor conditions and post updates on its Travel Alerts page.
“This decision was not made lightly,” said Leigh Barnes, president of the Americas, Intrepid Travel.
“We know this has a real impact on the local workers and families whose livelihoods are tied to tourism, and our thoughts are with them. We remain committed to supporting our partners and returning as soon as conditions become stable.”
A decision on departures beyond April 2026 is expected in the coming weeks.
Options for affected travellers
Customers whose trips have been cancelled can:
- Rebook to another destination
- Receive a credit for future travel
- Request a refund
Intrepid said affected travellers will be contacted by their booking agent or directly by the company.
