Iberostar chef tour puts spotlight on cuisine

Chef Marcos MoranA new culinary showcase from Iberostar continues to draw hungry guests, eager to sample the latest dishes from some of the top Spanish chefs in the world.

The year-long Iberostarchef on Tour series, which kicked off on Oct. 31, 2014 at the Grand Hotel Bavaro in Dominican Republic, features sixteen chefs in total with more than 20 Michelin stars between them, bringing their most creative Spanish dishes to guests at each event. The tour will wrap up on Oct. 24 at Iberostar Grand Hotel Paraiso in Mexico, featuring Chefs Fina Puigdevall, Beatriz Sotelo, Yolanda León, Macarena De Castro and Begoña Rodrigo.

Chef Marcos Moran is the latest chef to be featured in the series, making appearances at the company’s resorts over the next week including Parque Central in Cuba and Grand Hotel Paraiso on April 21 (tonight) and April 25, respectively.

Mariela Zaldivar, marketing manager – Canada for Iberostar, told PAXnews.com that the series was created to draw attention to the brand by leveraging the renown of its culinary offerings. That popularity has even led to the creation of a recipe book featuring dishes served at Iberostar’s properties, which guests can purchase at the company’s resorts.

“This is definitely something we want to highlight,” she said of the tour, “because one of our key strengths is our food.”

Zalvidar said each of the events have drawn numerous guests, with particularly large turnouts at Iberostar’s properties in Riviera Maya and Cuba due to the popularity of those destinations with tourists, she said.

Based on the success of the inaugural tour, Zalvidar hopes to see a 2016 edition of the series.

“It’s been a great success and it’s definitely something we want to see continue,” Zalvidar said.
