G Adventures announces first-ever trips to Dominica
Victoria Falls. (G Adventures)

G Adventures is introducing its first trips Dominica, becoming the first global adventure operator to launch tours of this kind on the island while opening up a new side to the Caribbean destination.

The company is offering an alternative to traditional Caribbean fly-and-flop or beach holidays. G's new trips on the island, long associated with cruise tourism, will shine light on the destination's rich inland and marine experiences, revealing why Dominica is ideal for premium adventure travellers seeking active experiences and deeper cultural connections.

From lush rainforests and towering waterfalls to volcanic landscapes and extensive hiking trails, the itineraries are designed to showcase the island’s incredible diversity.

Experiences range from invigorating hikes and waterfall swims to immersive encounters with local Indigenous communities and the rare opportunity to swim with sperm whales in their natural habitat, one of the only places in the world where this is possible.

Joining G Adventures’ premium active Geluxe travel style, the trips feature upgraded experiences with a focus on physical activity, one-of-a-kind accommodations, elevated dining experiences and deeper connections to community and culture.

Each trip also includes an “OMG Day,” giving travellers the opportunity to personalize their adventure by choosing between two different immersive experiences.

“G Adventures has always sought to help travellers see destinations in a new way,” says Yves Marceau, VP of Product at G Adventures, in a press release. “We’re incredibly excited to expand our Caribbean offering with Dominica and to shine a light on its incredible natural and cultural richness. By moving beyond the traditional cruise narrative, we’re helping travellers experience the island more deeply while ensuring tourism revenue reaches local and Indigenous communities.”

The tours

Dominica:  Waterfalls, volcanic Peaks & Kalinago Culture

Based in Roseau, this eight-day land-focused adventure sees travellers exploring Dominica’s diverse terrain, including a visit to the iconic Trafalgar Falls, where twin cascades tumble into cool natural pools, and hiking to lesser-visited falls such as Middleham Falls, the largest on the island where travellers can swim in the mystical mist-filled basin.

Marine experiences include time at Champagne Beach, famous for its underwater volcanic bubbles, where travellers can paddle and snorkel among vibrant marine life. Inland adventures continue along the Indian River, a mangrove-lined waterway featured in Pirates of the Caribbean.

Travellers will explore Cabrits National Park, home to the historic Fort Shirley Garrison, and enjoy relaxed beachside dining at a local favourite, Keeping it Real. A signature Geluxe “OMG Day” offers two unforgettable options: swimming through the dramatic Titou Gorge followed by a soak in natural hot springs, or visiting Spanny and Jacko Falls with optional evening whale watching.

A highlight of the trip is a meaningful cultural experience with the Kalinago people on Dominica’s east coast. Travellers visit the Kalinago Barana Autê model village, participate in traditional cassava bread-making, explore local farms, and walk sections of the Waitukubuli National Trail—supporting G Adventures’ commitment to community tourism

Dominica: Whales, Waterfalls & the Wild Caribbean

For water and wildlife lovers, this trip focuses on Dominica’s extraordinary marine life, with five days dedicated to responsible whale encounters. Travellers have the rare opportunity to swim with sperm whales in their natural habitat, in one of the only places in the world where this is possible.

Beyond whale encounters, there is also the opportunity to explore above and below the waterline, including time at Champagne Beach. Travellers head out with a local guide who will lead them to the bubbling seabed while pointing out coral, tropical fish and other marine life, with snorkelling equipment included.

Dominica is home to a resident population of sperm whales present year-round, and recently established the world’s first marine-protected area for these animals—an 800-square-kilometre reserve designed to safeguard the species while supporting sustainable tourism.

With two-thirds of the world’s whale species found in its waters, the island stands out as a global leader in marine biodiversity. All encounters are conducted in strict adherence to G Adventures’ robust Animal Welfare Policies, ensuring a responsible and conservation-focused experience.
