Representatives from the cruise industry met with the Mexican government this week to discuss the state of cruising in Puerto Vallarta, after recent violence caused three cruise lines to cancel their stops in the destination this week.
According to Vallarta Daily, the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association and Mexican government officials have vowed to increase communication to ensure cruise lines are kept informed about developments in the destination as they happen. This week, Disney, Celebrity and Royal Caribbean all cancelled stops in the destination, citing the recent unrest which flared May 1.
A stop by Carnival went ahead as planned on May 12, the report said.
