Visitors invited to return, responsibility
Jasper’s tourism board is inviting visitors to return, but to also practice responsible tourism.
“Our residents are navigating a lot of challenges right now – please be considerate of local residents and businesses and their recovery efforts,” reads a statement.
The tourism board reminds visitors to respect all area closures and to focus on capturing the beauty of Jasper – not the damage.
“We encourage you to take photos of the park’s stunning landscape that still exists – please skip photos of structures hit by the wildfire out of respect for our residents,” the tourism board says.
Tourism Jasper goes on to say that it is rebuilding its community (so “things will look different for a while”) and that one of the best ways to support Jasper right now is to spend money within Jasper National Park.
“Whenever you can, eat in our restaurants, stay in our hotels, use our services, explore with our guides, rediscover Jasper,” the tourism board says.
In 2023, it is estimated that an all-time high of 2.48 million people visited Jasper National Park, says Parks Canada.
