Air Transat's SXM flights cancelled this season

Air Transat has cancelled flights to Saint-Maarten for the entire season, following the impact of this year's record hurricane season.

Transat was scheduled to operate two weekly flights from both Toronto and Montreal this winter, with 12 hotels available through its brochure.

Saint-Maarten was among the worst-hit destinations by Hurricane Irma in September, which devastated the island including Princess Juliana International Airport. The airport has since reopened.

Following the passage of Hurricane Maria, Air Transat will also resume operations to Puerto Rico as of Feb. 18, with one weekly flight from both Toronto and Montreal.

Air Transat will also expand its offer this winter to some of its most popular sun destinations, including Punta Cana, Puerto Plata, Montego Bay, Florida (including Tampa, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale), Cuba (mainly Cayo Largo and Holguín), and Mexico (mainly Cancun and Puerto Vallarta).
