Eurail becomes Interrail as rail brand unifies globally
(Eurail/Interrail)

Eurail is adopting the Interrail name worldwide, bringing travellers from Europe and beyond under a single rail travel brand beginning Sept. 10, 2026.

For more than 60 years, the Eurail Pass has enabled travellers from outside Europe to explore the continent by rail, while the Interrail Pass has traditionally been available to European residents.

Under the new structure, travellers worldwide will purchase an Interrail Pass, regardless of where they live. The company says the move is a brand unification rather than a product change, with the same travel benefits, flexibility and freedom remaining in place.

Eurail Passes will no longer be sold for new purchases as of Sept. 10. Passes purchased before that date will remain valid according to their existing terms and conditions.

Eurail.com, along with related Eurail URLs and social media accounts, will also be decommissioned, with customers and followers redirected to Interrail’s digital channels.

“The Interrail Effect”

Coinciding with the global rebrand, Interrail has unveiled The Interrail Effect, a new brand platform focused on the transformative impact of travelling through Europe by rail.

The concept reflects how experiences across different languages, cultures, cuisines and destinations can leave travellers with greater confidence, new perspectives, unexpected friendships and lasting memories.

Interrail traces its roots to 1959, when post-war European nations created a rail pass designed to make crossing borders easier. Nearly seven decades later, the company says its new platform represents an evolution from being primarily a rail pass provider to a brand that champions more meaningful travel experiences.

“For years, we’ve asked people where they want to go. The more interesting question is who they’ll become when they return,” said Özlem Birkalan, chief brand and commercial officer at Interrail, in a press release. “The Interrail Effect isn’t something we invented. It’s something travelers have described to us for decades. Now, we’re building our brand not only around where people travel, but around what traveling this way does to them.”

The Interrail Effect will guide the company’s future campaigns, partnerships, content, community initiatives and customer experiences.
