How long have you been a travel agent? Over 40 glorious years , but still lovin it!

What is your specialty? Really personalized “one on one” planning of exclusive vacations.

What do you love most about being a travel agent?  

The joy of speaking & learning about the world on a daily basis. The thrill I get from returning clients who were passionate about their vacations. 

What's one travel trend you've noticed as of late?  

People want to stray from the pack, and they want more customized and personalized arrangements. The common packaged holidays are no longer always the first choice. People really want to have more experiential holidays and learn more about the locals. I find food and wine (the culinary scene) becoming a consistent “up and coming” segment of our industry. I have also seen a huge rise in solo travellers, mainly women, that like to speak with “like minded women".

Of all the bookings you’ve made, which itinerary and/or travel package are you most proud of?

I have done a few African safari tours that were very extensive and an absolute delight to plan. I even had clients who had to be helicopter lifted out of a camp in the middle of the night, but all ended well. When you choose the right company to work with, the African planners are so efficient! I have also had great success in building unique programs to Peru and Central America.

What's your number one piece of advice to other travel agents? 

Love what you do, grow some patience, and be confident!
