Caroline Hay has left the building. Well, Trevello.

The news was shared with the host agency’s network during a virtual town hall last week, PAX has learned. Hay’s last day is Friday (Jan. 23).

Trevello’s vice president of cruise started at Trevello eight years ago – back when it was known as Travel Professionals International (TPI).

She started at the company as a marketing manager, advanced to Ontario and national sales, and then ultimately became a VP.

Speaking with PAX on Thursday (Jan. 22), Hay said she has accepted a new role with a U.S.-based company and will stay in the retail cruise space.

“I’ve always encouraged our advisors to push beyond their comfort zones and to stay open to new opportunities,” Hay said. “This time, I have taken my own advice as I explore a new opportunity in the industry.”

She said her new position will be formally announced next week.

As for her direction, she said it was important to stay in the cruise retail space.

“I think a lot of people specialize in different segments in this industry, and there are a lot of voices in many segments, but not a lot of voices on the retail side when it comes to cruise,” she said. “That’s something I’ve established a strong reputation in.”

Reflecting on her time at Trevello—including navigating the COVID-19 pandemic, the company’s 2022 rebrand and Trevello going public—Hay said the relationships stand out the most.

“We’ve been through highs and lows, but the one thing that will always stick with me are the relationships I’ve made with advisors and suppliers,” she said. “We’ve worked together to grow so many areas of the business.”

Hay also acknowledged Trevello’s leadership team – “a kick-ass group of female executives,” including Zeina Gedeon, Trevello's CEO.

Working alongside the team has been “a highlight of my career,” she said. “I’ve learned so much from them.”

She leaves Trevello, inspired by the team’s tenacity.

“They’ve taught me how to look at the big picture,” Hay said. “How to understand decisions that impact not only the business, but advisors and partners as well. And how to manage a team.”

“It’s hard work, but being honest and authentic can take you very far in this business. I’m blessed.”
