Gail Lea has left the building, but not the travel industry.

In a statement to PAX, Lea confirmed that she has left her role as business development manager for Canada at Barcelo Hotel Group.

Lea joined the hotelier nearly 10 months ago, in February, becoming a point person for travel advisors and agencies. She succeeded Judy Makara, who moved over to Sandos.

As a BDM for Barcelo, Lea represented 37 hotels in eight countries and 23 destinations (Barcelo operates a total of 247 properties worldwide).

Lea told PAX that she wants to continue working in travel. “I love my industry and, after 16 years, I can’t see myself doing anything else,” she said.

Before joining Barcelo, Lea was a representative for Tahiti Tourisme North America, as well as a travel consultant.

In 2017, she created “FAM de Femmes,” a platform that offered training, development and familiarization trips to members.
