Christopher Jeffrey-Racine will be leaving his position as business development manager at Playa Hotels & Resorts for Quebec, the Atlantic provinces, and Ottawa, effective today (March 19).

As he prepares to take on new challenges, Jeffrey-Racine’s next move is top secret. However, he assures partners that he will remain in the industry.

"It's very exciting, and I can't wait to announce it,” Jeffrey-Racine said in a statement. “But all I can say, for now, is that I will be focusing on a niche market, targeting a high-end clientele. That's what I wanted, and that's exactly what will happen."

“For those in this niche, let's talk again very soon.”

Jeffrey-Racine emphasized that he is leaving Playa Hotels & Resorts on excellent terms.

"I loved my experience at Playa. I loved the people I worked with. It's a fantastic team, always ready to help you, motivate you, and push you to the next level. I am grateful for the trust they placed in me. They encouraged me to be creative and explore new ways of working. I learned a lot!" he told PAX Nouvelles, PAX’s news outlet in Quebec.

Jeffrey-Racine’s efforts contributed to record sales levels in North America just 11 months after taking the job.

He said he’s very proud that travel agencies that once sold relatively little Playa have increased their sales fivefold, or even tenfold, during his tenure – so much so that Playa's sales in Quebec now rival those in New York State.

"That's exceptional! And that, of course, is thanks to the relationships and trust I've established with the advisors. I thank them for embarking on my crazy adventures and following me,” he said.

Jeffrey-Racine's interim position at Playa Hotels & Resorts for Quebec will be filled by Andi Bacho, the brand’s Ontario representative. She speaks French and can be reached at Andi.Bacho@playaresorts.com.

Freddie Marsh, Playa's Western Canada BDM, will fill the interim position for the Atlantic provinces. He can be reached at freddie.marsh@playaresorts.com
