Cargojet Founder Dr. Ajay K. Virmani appointed to the Order of Canada

Founder and Executive Chairman of Cargojet, Dr. Ajay K. Virmani, has been appointed to the Order of Canada, the Mississauga, ON-based cargo airline shared Wednesday (Dec. 18).

The prestigious recognition highlights Dr. Virmani's "exceptional contributions as a visionary leader in the air cargo industry, a dedicated philanthropist, and a devoted advocate for community building," the airline wrote in a press release. 

"Dr. Virmani's innovative leadership has revolutionized the air cargo sector in Canada, setting new standards for operational excellence, reliability, and customer service," the airline said. "Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Virmani has been a passionate supporter of numerous charitable initiatives, making a profound difference in the lives of countless Canadians." 

Upon receiving the honour, Dr. Virmani said: "This recognition is dedicated to my outstanding team at Cargojet. It is a testament to their dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence. Thank you to our customers for being part of our journey and trusting us each day."

The Cargojet family joins in celebrating this monumental achievement, saying it "extends heartfelt congratulations to Dr. Virmani on this well-deserved honour."

88 new appointments

This year's list of recipients appointed to the Order of Canada was revealed on Wednesday, showcasing Canadians who've made lasting contributions to their communities.

"Members of the Order of Canada are builders of hope for a better future," Gov. Gen. Mary Simon said in a news release. "Each in their own way, they broaden the realm of possibilities and inspire others to continue pushing its boundaries."

This year will see 88 new appointments, from top university professors to one of Hollywood's biggest stars, actor Ryan Reynolds.
