Name: Adam Taylor

Business: Altitude Travel

Where do you live? Halifax, N.S.

How long have you been a travel advisor? 16 Years

What is your specialty? Business travel and all-inclusive vacations

What inspired you to become a travel advisor?

For as long as I can remember, I always had the desire to travel. I grew up in the country always thinking one day I will get on a plane and never stop. Once I had the opportunity to travel to the Caribbean, I was hooked. The travel industry was where I belonged and selling it was a must.

What’s the first trip you ever took?

Toronto, ON, with my college culinary class.

What travel trends are you seeing these days?

More recently, my leisure clients have been interested in higher-end experiences. They are looking for boutique properties, upgrading their onboard flight experience and spending more overall. My clients’ priorities have shifted from taking a cheap holiday, to making sure they are comfortable on board and not standing in long lines. Mexico and Dominican Republic are top sellers for all-inclusive clients.

Of all the bookings you’ve made, which itinerary are you most proud of?

A four-month, around-the-world itinerary that included the United Kingdom, France, Italy, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the United States and Canada.

What’s the most memorable trip you ever took?

Morocco. Seeing how culture was at the forefront of their every day amazed me. From people attending faith services and hearing a call to prayer in each city to the respect you witnessed people had for each other on the street, it showed what society in this country valued.

Where do you see your business one year from now?

In a year from now, I see a team of five consultants. My future goal is taking my business from simply selling travel and partnering with other agents in my brand to doing client and agency groups.

What’s the secret to being successful in this business?

Show up, work hard, and don’t wait for clients to find you. Market yourself and reach out to the clientele you want to sell to. Educate yourself on products to keep up with the ever-changing industry.

What is your motto?

Believe in your dreams, trust the process and manifest your destiny.

What is your number one piece of advice to other travel advisors?

Our industry is ever-changing. Keep up with the changes as they come and keep your head above the waves.
