Tamarind, Barbados, an Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resort, has reopened following an extensive renovation, marking the completion of a multi-million-dollar transformation of all seven resorts in the Barbados Collection.

Located on Barbados’ Platinum West Coast, the family-friendly oceanfront resort has emerged from its redesign with 111 refreshed guestrooms and suites, revamped dining concepts, upgraded public spaces and new programming focused on Barbadian culture.

"The reopening of Tamarind is an incredibly meaningful moment for Marriott International, our team, and for the future of hospitality in Barbados," said Gastón Gonzalez, regional vice president, Marriott International, Caribbean & Mexico, in a news release.

"Over the past several years, we have undertaken an ambitious vision to completely reimagine our portfolio across the island. Tamarind's reopening and adherence to the Autograph Collection brand represents the culmination of that journey and reinforces our commitment to delivering world-class, all-inclusive experiences under Marriott Bonvoy's portfolio of distinctive brands."

New dining & family experiences

Tamarind’s redesigned guestrooms and suites feature interiors inspired by the sea and landscapes of Barbados, while the resort’s refreshed culinary program combines international dishes with locally influenced flavours.

Dining options include breakfast at Sugar Cane Restaurant, artisanal coffee at Harvest & Hive, local and international cuisine at 246 Bar & Restaurant, and casual seaside fare at Sugar Shack.

The resort will also be home to Caribbean Restaurant, billed as the island’s first air-conditioned restaurant dedicated exclusively to authentic Barbadian cuisine.

Elsewhere, guests have access to multiple swimming pools, beachfront areas, motorized and non-motorized water sports, wellness offerings and destination-focused activities.

For younger guests, Tamarind has introduced CAMP Club, an indoor-outdoor space developed in partnership with CAMP and Marriott Bonvoy. Programming includes local arts and crafts, music, storytelling and interactive activities designed to introduce children to Barbados.

As part of Autograph Collection, the resort is also emphasizing experiences that showcase local culture. Programming ranges from storytelling rum tastings and Soca dance lessons to pop-up cooking classes featuring traditional Bajan fish cakes.

Seven-resort transformation complete

Tamarind’s reopening represents the final piece of the Barbados Collection’s two-year renovation strategy, which has transformed seven properties on the island.

The portfolio now includes Waves Resort & Spa, Treasure Beach, The House and Tamarind as Autograph Collection All-Inclusive Resorts.

Crystal Cove and Turtle Beach, meanwhile, have been introduced as Tribute Portfolio All-Inclusive Resorts, while Colony Club reopened as Barbados’ first property to become part of The Luxury Collection.

"Each resort within the Barbados Collection offers a unique perspective on the island, and that individuality has remained at the heart of this transformation," said Oscar González Ibarra, area general manager, Barbados Collection, in a release.

"The completion of the portfolio renovation allows us to showcase Barbados through seven distinct perspectives while delivering the elevated service, design, and hospitality expected from Marriott Bonvoy. We look forward to welcoming guests worldwide to experience our authentic Bajan hospitality.

The reopening also completes the Barbados Collection’s Lifestyle Stretch, which brings together distinct West Coast experiences at The House, Treasure Beach and Tamarind.

The concept is being further expanded with the debut of Sandtrap Beach Club, a new beachfront venue positioned as a social hub on the island.

Guests at Tamarind can also participate in the Barbados Collection’s Dine Around Program, providing access to culinary offerings and experiences at participating sister properties.

Meetings, weddings & celebrations

Tamarind also offers facilities for meetings, weddings and other special events, with two indoor event spaces and several outdoor venues accommodating up to 400 guests.

As part of Marriott Bonvoy, guests staying at Tamarind and other Barbados Collection properties can earn and redeem points across Marriott International’s portfolio and access applicable member benefits and experiences.
