Royalton provides update on Jamaica relief efforts, reopening timelines

Royalton Hotels & Resorts has outlined comprehensive support measures for employees and communities in Jamaica following Hurricane Melissa, while reconfirming its reopening timeline for the five affected properties.

As previously reported, the company has announced that Royalton Negril, Royalton Hideaway Negril, and Grand Lido Negril are scheduled to reopen on August 25, 2026, while Royalton Blue Waters and Royalton Hideaway Blue Waters are expected to reopen on September 15, 2026.

In the immediate aftermath of the storm, Royalton reports it provided clean water through its Reverse Osmosis Plants to affected communities, temporary lodging for employees whose homes were damaged, monetary relief for staff who experienced significant losses and grocery care packages distributed to all staff from the impacted resorts.

The company has also coordinated donation drives, volunteer efforts and community support initiatives from its other Caribbean properties to extend assistance beyond the resort areas.

During the restoration period, over 200 employees will remain on property to oversee maintenance and preservation efforts. 

Additionally, the company is deploying managers and key team members to temporary Task Force assignments at other Royalton resorts throughout the Caribbean, providing continued employment and training opportunities.

"As we move through this period, our priority is ensuring that our hotels remain safe places for both guests and staff," said Daniel Lozano, senior vice president of operations at Royalton Hotels & Resorts. 

"At the same time, this does not lessen our commitment to our teams and communities in Jamaica."

Guests with existing reservations will continue to receive flexible options including penalty-free cancellations, rebooking or relocation to other Royalton Hotels & Resorts properties.
